The problem being is that PV2 Nagy is also breaking a few rules by unholstering his sidearm in an enclosed vehicle outside of tactical engangement. Pointing said sidearm in a manner that is not "up and down range". And where did he get it? His standard issue is an M16 not a sidearm. Pistols are for officers/medics/REMF's. That pic could get you in trouble Pete.

LCPL Nagy, a the time, was holding his Master Sergeant's sidearm because his Master Sergeant was careless and left it in the vehicle. The magazine is not inserted and the chamber is empty because we cleared our weapons before we entered the compound. Also, FYI, I was issued a pistol and an M4 while I was on guard duty for the commandant of the Marine Corps and also when I was assigned to an escort vehicle for high profile personnel. Any other questions Sherlock?

The 3 burst mechanism isn't exactly a true 3 burst mechanism, like the MP5. The ratcheting mechanism inside causes variations in trigger pull that affect accuracy.
I also thought part of the reason was to prevent fouling of the breech since the gas directly impinges on the bolt. I heard the M4 especially is prone to fouling since it's cyclic rate is significantly higher than the M16's.
