what i read said the burst trigger group was a lot more prone to failure than the auto trigger group. they also sited that with proper training a full auto works jus as well as burst (trigger discipline)

i'm trying to remember where I read that but I can't remember.. it was a military news site of some sort...

it's possible that they said they are looking into going back to full auto, but haven't done it yet or it got shot down (sort of speak ehhe)

The 3 burst mechanism isn't exactly a true 3 burst mechanism, like the MP5. The ratcheting mechanism inside causes variations in trigger pull that affect accuracy.

I also thought part of the reason was to prevent fouling of the breech since the gas directly impinges on the bolt. I heard the M4 especially is prone to fouling since it's cyclic rate is significantly higher than the M16's.

Yeah i read about the burst being more prone to failure too but most people aren't going to have that discipline when being shot at. I know if my life was in danger i'd want to send as much lead at the target as possible. Hell cops have some training and have still been known to unload way more rounds than are needed. IMO if you want full auto get the m249 hehe.

here, take a lesson..

note the index finger. the sad difference between training and you.
The problem being is that PV2 Nagy is also breaking a few rules by unholstering his sidearm in an enclosed vehicle outside of tactical engangement. Pointing said sidearm in a manner that is not "up and down range". And where did he get it? His standard issue is an M16 not a sidearm. Pistols are for officers/medics/REMF's. That pic could get you in trouble Pete.

Now how's that training shit go again?
