Default pc question v.svchost

k, so everytime i either bring my laptop out of a sleep or boot it up i get one svchost process that within 30 seconds of booting up starts hogging about 90% of my CPU. i go in and kill the process and everything stops being so sluggish, if i dont my computer just locks up. what would cause this to do this? any ideas?

Yeah......you don't want to get rid of those processes. They're pretty vital. If your CPU is being worked more than usualy (90% shouldn't be constant) then you likely have a problem.

I had the same situation and then I cleaned out the registry with ccleaner. My computer ran as if it was new afterwards. It's a free program...

i know its not a process you wanna kill, but it starts taking up soooo much cpu i cant do anything, my system freezes and i have to manually shut down and restart. if i kill it before it takes up all those resources im ok

if whatever that process is loading up is halting everything, try putting procexp in the startup so that it hopefully loads up before this thing does so that you can track it.

or you can try ccleaner or something like it, like chris suggested, but you probably should find out exactly what's running.

btw, svchost is exactly what it says... it's a host for running programs/services, which is why i suggest you use procexp to look into it.
