Default Anyone live in Manhattan?

Is it beneficial to live in Manhattan or is Astoria/Park Slope/Brooklyn Heights okay?

I'd get a place in CT. Around where I live NYC is about 1.5 hours away and it's not too bad of a drive depending on if you catch traffic. Or you could find a place near or at Parsippany NJ, its about a half hour to 45 mins away.

Plus Manhatten is expensive if you choose to not live in the ghetto where you'll be shot just for stepping out of your house.

Manhattan is expensive as hell. you can do queens or brooklyn. Staten island is nice (its like a suburb of northern jersey )

NJ: the Jersey city area is close to Manhattan... but its pretty shitty.

Bergen County NJ has buses/trains to Port Authority.

I am currently interviewing for positions in midtown Manhattan. I don't own a car (haven't for almost two years) and do not wish to add that expense. Commuting time is a big thing for me because where I currently live in Philly, I am a 15 minute walk to my office. As long as I have something similar to that via the subway, I am cool.

People have told me I am best to live south of 100th St in Manhattan, and the Queens / Brooklyn neighborhoods I previously mentioned. I am not afraid of fringe areas, but would prefer not to live in one.

All I know about Manhattan is that one episode of Run's House where his daughters go looking for apartments and little shitty dinky ones in crap neighborhoods were like 2-3 grand a month.

Got anyone up there you could room with?
