I'll be sad once football season is over. Back to Hockey and Basketball for my HD fix, but the football just looks so goddam beautiful in HD that the other sports just don't compare.
Will post pictures once it arrives.
Otherwise, you have to go though your cable provider.
If you currently have Digital Cable:
- call the cable company and request the HD package.
- they'll explain the fees. For Comcast, it's an extra $5 a month, per cable box with the HD on it. So, if I have 3 cable boxes, 2 of them need HD, that's $10.
- you'll have to provide the serial number of the cable box.
- magic will happen, and your HD channels will be turned on instantly. You'll see a brick of them (for me it's 170 - 205) open up.
If you don't have Digital Cable or a cable box:
- call the cable company and request the HD package.
- they'll explain the fees. For Comcast, it's an extra $5 a month, per cable box with the HD on it. Also, cable box rental is about $5 a month.
- schedule an installation appointment (most of the time, these are free when upgrading your service ... if not it's about $25)
- some hairy dude will come by and set you up.
From there, be sure to test your HD right away. Flip though all the channels. If your screen is any bit scrambled, wavey, or static-y, the cable man has to install a signal amplifier onto the line. (this should be free too)
So, recap.
1. you need a cable box that has digital cable capabilities (typically rented for $5 a month)
2. you need to order the HD package ($5 a month)
there are HD signals in the air and you'll need an HD ready TV with an HD antenna.

I thought you meant hardware wise like cables and such
h: My parents already have HD
h:
the only thing you might want to look into is if your current box has an HDMI out. If so, you'll go from 5 component cables (analog), to 1 (digital).
when the signal reaches your cable box, it's in a digital format. There's a signal conversion from digital to analog when using component cables. HDMI is pure. No conversions at all.
shit i want one of those! they upconvert to 1080p :hs:
