Happiness is all in your perspective.
Your perspective is a major part of your personality.
It's just IN YOU to be happy.

You can do mental excercises to put a positive light on things. For example ...

situation:
I'm not happy at work.

positive spin:
Work is work, I have another 16 hours outside of the office to live life. On top of it, work pays for everything I have in life. Jobless people would kill to be me.

negative spin:
I'm going to be at this forever.

situation:
girlfriend dumped me.

positive spin:
Good thing I find out now, rather than later. Who wants to be in a 1 way relationship?

negative spin:
I'm never going to find another one.

You gotta spin positive thoughts.

You need to make yourself happy. You can't put your entire source of happiness into something as volitile as a girl. It's like investing all your money into one stock. Diversify your pleasure portfolio.

10% relationship
30% self
30% family
15% hobby
15% other

in this case, if you lose the relationship, you're still happy.

this is what you did.
80% relationship
5% self
5% family
0% hobby
10% other

You lost the relationship, now you have nothing to fall back on.

Snap out of it man.

with me ...
5% relationship - I don't have a girlfriend, but I'm still out there meeting new chicks. It's not the end all of me anymore.

30% self - this includes working hard, working out, and taking care of me first.

20% family - hanging out with my brother, watching TV, just making sure home is okay.

25% hobby - internet, downloading things, playing in photoshop, mixing, shopping ... the fun stuff.

10% other - spending time at the bar, cleaning things, random computer work, just anything i find fun, but I can't put in a category.

i said it once and i'll say it again, if you expect happiness to last you forever, get real. its an emotion and emotions always change

but theres a difference in being temporarily satisfied versus being totally secure. thats something that circumstances wont be able to change regardless of the situation

I don't know man, based on the looks of your closet and the rest of your crib I'd say cleaning things probably represents about 50% of your time. :reechy: And what about the time spent on here? Surely that's another 30%.

:reechy:

The inital closet setup was a whore, but maintaining it is the trick. Give it 10 minutes a day and it'll never get messy.

and that goes with the entire house too. Clean it, maintain it, and you'll be fine. People create pigpens when the room is bad as is ... and they just pile more on.

I guess that's true but hard to realize since my wife doesn't know how to maintain neatness. Before I married, I always thought women were cleaner and neater than men but I guess not.

nooooooooooooooooo. That's a common misconception. I know lots of female mess makers. Back in college, I stopped by this one girl's place and needed to take a shower when I left.

The bitch had 4 day old cereal bowls with evaporated milk residue in her bedroom ... it had a small puddle of milk left ... with cigarette ashes floating on it. :X
