Default Another ticket

This morning I was pulled, cited, and written for improper equipment. Not one or two tickets. but F I V E.

1) Improper Suspension Modifications other than Authorized by a Manufacturer to correct a defect (Lowered 2.5" with coilovers)

2) Removal of Essential Safety Equipment (racing steering wheel BUT I have a 4pt racing seat.... WTF!)

3) Modified Exhaust System (Full aftermarket exhaust no cat)

4) Removal of Emissions Control Equipment (Its a built B18C, wtf would I use the emmisions crap, this isnt a chevy suburban)

5) Illegal tint (I admit to this one, its dark as hell haha)

Moral of the story... screw the po po's and invest in a good lawyer after trickin ur ride... you'll need it.

Not to be an ass, but you could have ...

1) Lowered it a little to improve performance/looks
2) Kept the airbag so you don't die when you wreck rear-end some jackass diplomat on 395
3) Have a cat so that the rest of us can hear our radios
4) Keep the emissions stuff so we can enjoy our city
5) Tint it a little. You're in Fairfax, not Quito. It's not that hot here.

I'm only half kidding, not trying to be an ass.
Good luck with the tickets, though. That part does suck.

Well Ive had the car two years. Most of the modifications were done when i was still autocrossing it. I admit I could have been less dramatic with the mods.

1) the cat is deleted yet the car has a resonator and muffler
2) I think 4pt harness is better than an airbag.
3) 2.5" isnt a huge amount yet it is toward the end of the scale.

I admit losing the cat wasnt the smartest thing but this isnt a rice rocket. no body kit, no annoyingly loud exhaust, no obnoxious wings or ridiculous wheels. It was modified to be able to run in autocross as well as be streetable. I agree with replacing the cat. But i really feel that this guy toasted me just for the sake of doing so...

And as far as Emissions goes.... Whats worse.... A gas guzzling soccer mom driven Cadillac Escalade or a 4 cylinder Acura? Oh well, such is life...

Gas guzzling and pollution are two different problems, neither of which is the better of two evils.

...
1) Removing the cat on a pollution controlled vehicle is illegal. Period.
Also, if you live outside of CA, you can run a high-flow cat and still get the marginal power increase of a test pipe... but keep the air breathable.

2) It doesn't matter what you think is safer. Again, the federal law is abundantly clear on the issue.

3) The burden is on you to check your laws. Out here in CA, there's a minimum headlight height requirement (22" from the center of the lamp to the ground, if memory serves).

Sorry to be blunt, but this "problem" was entirely of your own making.

And while I'm at it, your emissions argument -- if I'm reading you correctly -- is entirely bogus.

To claim that an de-catalyzed Integra is cleaner than a catalyst-equipped Suburban borders on lunacy. Sure the Suburban burns more gas per mile, but the reduction in NOx and CO2 on a catalyst-equipped vehicle is immense. And I for one like air free from smog.

So please, run a cat converter from here on out.

The performance gains with no cat on an N/A car is minimal at best anyway. There are always aftermarket cats too.

I've seen airbags come at me two different times during my life (luckily not in the Teg) and, even though sucking down the dusty air that they produce is horrible, I was damned glad to see them [once I stopped hocking up a lung]. The chemical burns on my wrists and legs were better than slamming my face into the steering column or having the seatbelt restrain me so much that my organs bounced off each other.

There tends to be a backlash against posts like this. If you posted that two cop cars detained you for 20 minutes for no font tag after making a turn using your blinker going 13 in a 25, you may get some sympathy because that is ridiculous.

It's a double-whammy to get tickets and then have everyone on the board piss in your Cheerios. Sorry for that. Däs Schmoo wrapped it up when he said it could be avoided and the negative attention that Integras receive is what everyone is annoyed over.
