i don't know, my 94 honda is noisy (clickedy, clack, especially in cold weather) even with the quiet timing belt. my cars got 133k and never been changed. i'll wait till it self destructs so i can get a new car.
Go drive a 240sx and see how loud their timing chains are and you'll understand that they are severely noisier than belts.

That has nothing to do with the belt itself dumbass.

That's a roller chain, not a silent chain. So that's probably the noisiest example you could find

I had a chain snap on an 84 Deville (w/ HT4100) @ 136k miles. Not the best example to use, but a chain CAN break. I had the car hauled off, I didn't even bother having it repaired. Timing belts are very reliable and the recommended replacement intervals set by the manufacturer are very conservative. So I had to spend a few hundred bucks every 90,000 miles to change the timing belt? Big deal... I spent way more than that replacing alternators, starters, fuel pumps, chasing/repairing electrical gremlins on my older GM vehicles before 100k miles. The only 'problem' really is the interference engine. If the belt snaps while your at 3,000 rpms tooling down the highway, you're likely SOL w/ a trashed engine. But, going back to what I said above, modern timing belts are extremely reliable and I have never had one snap on me... unlike the chain!

No. Service limit for BorgWarner chains is 0.6% elongation, or how much it stretches out. On a typical BW chain system on a 4 cylinder engine, a 1000 hour test at redline or peak power stretches the chain at about 0.4%. So the chain will probably last longer than the engine. Some engines have less vibrations and thus stretch the chain less (Nissan VQ35), while some have more and stretch the chain more (DaimlerChrysler World Engine 4-cylinder balance shaft drive). And this is on a silent chain, like on your car. Roller chains are noisier but are more durable.
