No. Service limit for BorgWarner chains is 0.6% elongation, or how much it stretches out. On a typical BW chain system on a 4 cylinder engine, a 1000 hour test at redline or peak power stretches the chain at about 0.4%. So the chain will probably last longer than the engine. Some engines have less vibrations and thus stretch the chain less (Nissan VQ35), while some have more and stretch the chain more (DaimlerChrysler World Engine 4-cylinder balance shaft drive). And this is on a silent chain, like on your car. Roller chains are noisier but are more durable.
