i'm thinking about getting a tacoma
Also get light truck tires not passenger tires that work on trucks...they have more plys and are rated "heavy duty"...for instance exploders and f150s came with passenger tires and they had blowouts left and right if they were used as a truck for towing and hauling near their limit
I was sellin em back in '04 before the new ones came out, and I thought the 4x4 quad cab short bed with the TRD pack was pretty sweet. Not sure about the current gen, but the previous gen had much lower curb weights than other similar sized pickups so they had much higher cargo capacities. Towing was about the same. They were trucky but not overly huge, pretty easy to park, not too ponderous to handle, and even felt kinda sporty. Not sure about the brakes but if you're gonna be doing some off-roading make sure you get one with the electric locking rear diff. The new one does have a way nicer motor than the previous gen.
i've actually been thinking about getting a tacoma also. 4x4 4cyl manual. just want something good on gas i can put my 4 wheeler in. the civic is just getting too small for me. it doesnt pull around my 4 wheeler trailer around decently though.
im in a tough situation though for money, i owe more than the civic is worth, and can't afford over 240 a month, yikes!

One way to take care of an upside-down car loan is find a new vehicle with a big juicy special lease on it. The subsidized lease cuts so much out of the price of the car that you can roll the upside-down amount into the lease while keeping a low payment. At the end of the lease you're squared away. You don't own a car, but you don't owe anything either.
