I've got a 99 Silverado LT with tow package and only 2wd and the 5.3 liter v8. GM trucks have the best brakes by far and if you do some research on trailers they'll often ask you what you are towing with and if it's not a GM they'll definitely want you to get elec trailer brakes (not hydraulic as Toyotas/Fords/Dodges have lost their brakes b/c they just weren't up to the task and the hydraulic cylinder is worthless without the trucks brakes working).

Also get light truck tires not passenger tires that work on trucks...they have more plys and are rated "heavy duty"...for instance exploders and f150s came with passenger tires and they had blowouts left and right if they were used as a truck for towing and hauling near their limit
