i dont know if it's "depression" per se but i do have this feeling that my life is stagnant and a fear that i can't achieve success....

i do believe they refer to that as "quarter life crisis"

but yeah puffy, my mom had a good friend who had post partem depression and from what i saw, it wasnt a pretty sight. the best thing you can do is just stick with her and give her as much support as possible. she will get through it. therapy and meds wouldnt hurt either but certainly not required.

Like Andrew, I tend to hold everything in. Sometimes I feel like its overwhelming me, but whatever.

Usually I bottle everything up for at least several months. Honestly, I know if I shared what I felt more often I wouldn't have this baggage dragging behind me. But when I do reach the breaching point, watch out.

That sounds like what I used to do. Now, I channel bottled up energy in different ways. I usually clean something up when something is bothering me. Takin aggressions etc. out on things that need attention allowed me to figure things out a little easier. It's like creating a greater surface area to allow thoughts to fly free. Kinda like when you're on a 2-lane highway and it's windy. You roll the windows down so the opposing Semi's don't blow you over. The wind needs to roll through and so does anger, or what ever is bugging us.

Also, by cleaning, if you come home with the same amount of depression, just looking at how clean everything is can make you feel better.
Just my take on it all. :hs: Perception is pretty much all we have h:

But the best thing I can say that I ever did, was to talk to a Therapist. The cleaning was allowing myself time to accept what we talked about.

She needs to go see a specialist. I do not mean a GP or family doctor--somebody with experience with this.

That doesn't surprise me. I've read a lot of research showing that SSRI's work just as well as the placebo. Cute. When Prozac was being approved by the FDA, Eli Lily's "research" had to be redone to show that Prozac was more effective than the placebo (an older antidepressant in the same study was actually shown to be more effective).

So what did Eli Lily do? They reused the older antidepressant control group and put them on Prozac. Sadly this happens very often. I've come across it a lot. You can find research regarding VIOXX and blood clotting wayyyyyyyyy back 10 years ago. I don't really blame doctors, because if they don't prescribe something then the patient may think "Oh, he is incompetant and doesn't see anything wrong," so maybe essentially giving somebody a pill that is ineffective may not be a terrible thing.
