I didn't know there was a free version of cool edit. And I haven't looked at soundforge. I liked audacity because it's free and has alot of good features. A friend of mine used to use a program called fruityloops(?). We used audacity to record a UT sound pack. It was great. We tried to get as many kills as possible so we could hear "bukkake" instead of Ultrakill.

I'm just bored and thought I'd see if you tried any of the suggested programs yet.

:edit: now I know

the best way to do this ...

record player connected to a stereo amp
stereo amp's headphone out into the PC's record in

from there, a program like Adobe's Audition will allow you to capture the live sound.
play the record
click the red record button on the program

Anyone heard of or anything about "Groove Mechanic"?

I've never heard of it. Download the trial and give it a whirl. You won't have anything to lose. If it works well at getting rid of pops/static automatically then it's probably worth the 40 bucks.

Found something. It's called Audacity. Like I said pops and snaps aren't an issue. Most of my albums are pristine condition, I have a record cleaning vacuum system. Everything gets cleaned before each use, and a lot of my albums are audiophile pressings. Thanks all for the suggestions.
