Lets see..... Remove your bumper, cut off every thing that is not need to hold the bumper cover on, and your done.

Or you could try to find a JDM bumper support. Why are you wanting to do this? To save weight? It's prolly a good thing to have if get in a front end collision.

The bumper cover is held on primarily by clips, there is real no "mounting point."

be wary of removing bumper reinforcements, if youre involved in an accident, even if its not your fault the insurance company may not cover it because you modified the structure of the frame, resulting in more body damage then was neccessary, also its illegal to do such things in most states not sayin everyone here has a legal car but if someone runs a redlight and nails you you may not get back no where near as much as if u had left the reinforcement in place, and that is definately number one on the suck chart

yeah, just little push-ins and a couple of self-threading bolts. Those push-ins can be a pain in the ass though. Try not to break them

Basically that's what I'm thinking, it's the worst place to have weight in the car, right up there with my stupid sunroof I don't want. So the JDM bumpers are just the cover? It has to be insignificant in any substantial accident, the supports I mean, it's just meant to keep you from having 100's in repairs when you bump something accidently at 5 mph. The crumpling absorbs the accident, not some little piece of metal behind the bumpers, if anything they probably make it worse by adding momentum for the body to absorb. I'm always looking for a cheap way to make the car better. I mean I noticed when I went from a cast manifold to a tubular header so I'm thinking getting rid of 20 pounds of metal in an even more extreme position relative to the center of gravity will probably feel even better, especially out of the front where I want to save as much weight as possible.

The sunroof itself doesn't weigh much, it's the added reinforcement for the structure that weighs a lot. So removing the sunroof doesn't save a lot of of weight. :hsugh:

The car is worth nearly nothing according to insurance anyways, any kind of accident and it's totalled so I'm not worried. I don't have collision either.

This is starting to sound like my next project.

What am I realistically looking at saving here in pounds?
