That's what I meant. :fawk: I looked at a non sunroof roof and it was like just a sheet of metal. Would it be hard to swap another roof in when I had the bodywork and paint done?

You sir are a dumbass for even thinking of removing something that will aid in the event of an accident. For what? Weight savings on a daily driver, I'm glad natural selection exists.

You'd pretty much have to weld on another roof panel. Not even worth it, just make more horsepower.

if the car isn't worth anything...then why spend a couple of G's on replacing the roof?

Thanks for your opinion.

I know what it does, and I don't care if my cover gets munched. My year doesn't have the side impact beams the 90-91 does, does that mean I should go run out and find some 90-91 doors asap?

That much?!

I'm planning on spending like $3k or so getting the whole body fixed and getting it painted nice. It's really rough now. It'll be worth something when that's all done. I mean all the work finding a clean shell and how much any really clean CRX is going to cost, I figure just fixing mine is better. '88 is the lightest year too. I was just thinking that if it would only cost a few more hundred in that process why not do it. None of this is happening for quite awhile but speculating about it is almost as fun as doing it. h:

The cost of it is mostly labor. You're looking at cutting off the roof from one car, getting it to line up on your car, weld it, bondo it, paint it...and redo the headliner so you don't have a rectangle spot for the old sunroof.

The roof panel itself isn't more than several hundred dollars. Cutting the old one off and welding a new one on sucks balls. Labor > your life.

Braking and cornering! Nothing beats weight savings in those deparments, tire sizing and suspension tuning are finite!

But yeah, I'm probably just being anal, I'd rip out my whole interior if I was that hardcore. Which I keep considering, stupidly enough, and I may do because the car is already hardly conducive to being nice to ride in and it's looking it's age anyways and I bet the bare metal is nice and shiny. h:

edit: yeah in that case I guess it's not worth it, unless maybe I found a panel for free or really cheap out of a junkyard which is what I was thinking I'd do. How much do you think labor alone would be, and would there be any risk of tweaking the structure? Another thing I am in desperate need of that make me seriously consider it is headroom. It's just marginal now which = no helmet, at least not comfortably or safely, and my ass isn't going to get any closer to the floor.

You probably have no more than 50 pounds added on from the sunroof. Take a large dump and don't eat for 3 days = moonroof
