When you boot your system to get to the login screen and what OS are you using?

I just timed mine out and it took 15 seconds on Win XP Pro

I remember back on 98se it taking like 2 minutes and 95 you don't even want to know h:

when my PC was newly formatted (no antivirus, no programs on it) it took under 10 seconds (2.4P4, 1,024mb ram)

Now, it's loaded with NAV, spyware blockers, etc ... about 30 to 40 seconds

I do remember the days of my 266mhz, win95 computer ... I'd come home, turn on the PC, start a microwave meal, get changed, sign on to the PC, get the food, start eating .... and the pc was just about ready to use. :chuckles:

The XP splash screen is pretty quick, it is the BIOS that takes a while. Then after logging in, it goes :loco: for a few seconds. h:

Yeah I have a couple "error" popusps that come up after loging but even with that I can go from push button to desktop in under 30-45 seconds on average.

Yeah 95 was a bear to load up, 3.1 took a bit of work to load too. I remember with 3.1 getting 3 fatal exceptions in a row before being able to finally load so it would take about 20 minutes to finally get to the desktop or longer sometimes.

On my XP Pro machine it takes probably about 30 seconds.

My linux systems take a considerable amount of time to boot... 2-4mins. But then again, I don't reboot them for 6-10months anyway, so it doesn't matter.

uptime > rebooting time

it takes forever to count all the memory. how does it only take 15 secs! ...unless you hit escape when it's doing the memory check

Don't ask me but I let it do it's normal boot routine and it averages around 15 seconds to the log in screen.

Running AMD 2 gig proc.
1.5 gig RAM

I mean it's a pretty simple system and I don't run anything that doesn't aply to work on it aside from Winamp and whatever game I am currently into. Never had a failure and I tend to only reboot once every 4 or 5 months unless I have had a heavy editing schedule since PS likes to lag down the system after a couple hundred images passed through it.
