Has anyone wired a home theater system? I'm trying to figure this out over the next week or so...

Should I run the Cable/DVR Box right to the VCR/DVD Box and run that into the receiver then run the video out into the TV?

How should I wire this and what can give the best quality (s video, opitcal audio, composite video, etc.)? Please not we don't have HD cable yet so no HDMI option.

Hook up the video direct from your DVD player to your TV using S-Video.

Out put from the DVD player to the Receiver using the RCA. Thats the best setup I have done on my system.

Depends on the inputs and outputs of your equipment, HDMI is the best video feed followed by component cables. You'd want digital audio if your stereo has it.

This all depends on your TV and how many HD/progressive/YPbPr jacks you have.

The DVR should have some YPbPr connections (aka progressive scan / HD). Connect the DVR directly to the Panasonic HD. You'll be hooking up 5 wires total, 3 for the video, 2 for the audio. If your DVR has a digital audio out (optical), plug that directly into the home theater box.

Your Progressive scan dvd player should be hooked up the same way.

From the plasma, take the audio OUT and put that into the Onkyo.

The hardest part is battling for connections. The last thing you want to do is plug and unplug wires when you want to switch sources.

the back of the Onkyo doesn't have HD jacks, so anything you want to be crystal clear, you'll have to go from your video source to your plasma.
