Well everyone knew Chacon had good stuff, I was shocked we got him for so little. As for Smally, Stottlemyre loved his stuff when he was at spring training...I bet he had a big say in his call-up.

But yeah, Yankee middle relief is a joke. I'd trade Sheff, Arod or Giambi for 2-3 decent middle relievers who didn't choke in seemingly EVERY big situation.

hmmm nah, considering most of the time, we can get a minimum of 6 and usually 7 or 8 innings from the starters... and then we have Gordon, Sturtze (when hes worth salt), and Mo. if Small remains effective, id say the staff is fairly complete.

Small is starting in Wright's place though, which leaves the Yanks with no long middle relief that is reliable. I don't think Torre will trust Sturtze in the 7th inning of a one rung game against Boston...it'll be Mo and Flash for the final 9 outs.

This is too close to call but this what I hope will happen.

Chicago beats the snot out of Cleveland this weekend sweeping them in 3 straight and knocking them out of the Wild Card. This way the Sox and Yanks (who I bet will be tied in the standings come Friday) Will both be in the playoffs no matter who wins the pennant. Why do I want this? Because if both the Sox and Yanks fight it out this weekend battling for every run their depleted bullpens are going to be more tired than me on a Friday morning. No way either team makes it out of the ALDS if they make it.

Besides what better than 3 straight Sox-Yanks ALCS series.

Finally you Yankee fans better hope that Pinella does not come to the Yankees next year. That would be a huge mistake. And if Torre does leave NY he could end up in Boston if Francona is shown the door. Not to mention Theo's contract is up like Cashman's...oh the evil possibilities.

im pretty scared too after going to the game last night and seeing hansen pitch like crap AGAIN! like, dude. just throw strikes. as for the yankees and redsox series coming up this weekend, i dont know whats gonna happen. i have seen the yankess look un-characteristic like lately. verry sloppy as of late. so i dunno. it will sure be interesting.

they should erase the national league west out of the map and give it to the mets. the 1st place in the west has a worst record than the last place nl east mets heh or better give it to any team in the american lg. this yr u never know who is going to be there but i do know who is not.

wow a lot of action happened in this thread during my lunchtime away.

Chacon and Small have been amazing since they have started for the Yanks. I hope they both get the starts they deserve. Wright should be left to the bullpen. Wang looks to be back to his pre-injury self.

i love watching wang pitch, he is so friggen composed, nothin rattles that guy. he is an all business pitcher and if the Yanks trade him (ill be pissed) ill make a point to catch as many games that he pitches as possible. he's hall of fame bound, no doubt in my mind.
