Acutally now that I think about it, my middle school had the same system I think starting when I was in 8th grade. So that would've been the '95-'96 school year.

The quality of what you can get out of the vending machines is only marginally worse than the quality of the stuff you can buy at lunch time. Except pasta day, even the school can't screw that up.

no actually, they arent, school lunches are formulated to give a vast majority of foods over the course of a week, they are made to suffice slightly above average needs to cover everyone
