Default Anyone using L-Glutamine

I've been working out for a while now, using creatine...and i've noticed that my recovery times have been terrible. My muscles constantly ache. I do take in a good amount of protien and i'm just curious if anybody has used glutamine to aid in healing faster? thanks.

Glutamine /= Creatine

Glutamine is a naturally occuring amino acid in the body, but those who lift weights enough find themselves in short supply of it, as after an intense workout, glutamine levels can drop by 50%. Basically, glutamine can minimize the breakdown of muscle tissue and improve protein metabolism, not help "build" muscle, but basically keep muscle from breaking down.

From what I've heard, 10 grams a day is enough for most serious weight lifters. There are NO side effects (because its a naturally occuring compound in the body) aside from maybe an upset stomach if you take way too much.

glutamine is not really going to help in this situation. Either you are trying to do to much, or you are not getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals in your diet, especially potassium.

After about 3 weeks of hard lifting, if you are still getting really sore on a daily basis, you are trying to do to much and not giving your muscles enough time to heal in between.

My protein supplement has a decent amount of glutamine in it. Are you taking in enough water with your creatine, and getting enough rest? I agree with swaggs, seems like you're trying to do too much still.

i use EAS L-glutamine...i dont know if faster recovery time is because of it or maybe it's psychological

it has a nasty grainy texture though

well, i've been hard lifting for a while now. My recovery time sucks...i try and get to the gym every day which probably isn't smart, but i work a different set of muscles every day so it's not like i kill my arms 5 days a week. I"m trying to lose fat/ build muscle at the same time which is hard. I'm on a very healthy diet, which includes a good amount of protien, vegitibles, and alot of greens (salad). Any tips will help me out. i've gotten get rid of my "beer gut" it's not big it's just i notice excess fat around my tummy.

Perhaps you are dehydrated. If you are doing all the excess protein/aa, you will need to drink quite a bit of water. How much fruit do you eat? If you are eating a good balanced diet, supplements just give you more nutritious urine, IMHO.
