Glutamine is a naturally occuring amino acid in the body, but those who lift weights enough find themselves in short supply of it, as after an intense workout, glutamine levels can drop by 50%. Basically, glutamine can minimize the breakdown of muscle tissue and improve protein metabolism, not help "build" muscle, but basically keep muscle from breaking down.
From what I've heard, 10mg a day is enough for most serious weight lifters. There are NO side effects (because its a naturally occuring compound in the body) aside from maybe an upset stomach if you take way too much.
