Just got the loan for the RSX-S, did I ruin my OEM Accord parts?!?!?
I'm 23, I pay $163/month full coverage for my '05-S through State Farm. But I've only had one speeding ticket in the last 3 years, and no at-fault accidents. But I have had a car stolen once and broken into twice. Been with State Farm since I got the license.
You can probably use an air compressor (as someone else said) as your best bet. If you come across any rust, you might be able to sand it off.

To recap, none of these things happened to the RSX, and when they did happen my car wasn't even parked at my house. I currently live in a gated community in a really nice area, and I haven't heard of anybody having anything stolen anywhere near me.

See, if I can get my Accord sold here in a month or two, that drops the amount I need to borrow down to around $13,000 (give or take $1500). That'll drop my monthly payments down to under $300 (close, but under.)
As far as car insurance, as long as I maintain my 3.0+ average in college they generally don't have a problem paying it for me. (they recently edited the verbal contract to include "without dropping any classes" lol)
I just got off the phone with the bank and my credit score is 715 which the lady said was pretty damn good for my age. I only have one credit card and I pay it off 100% every month, 19% APR would blow.
The moral of the story is, yes indeedy I am getting a Type-S this summer. And as far as dropping an H22 into my Accord and doing an automatic to manual conversion with an engine thats PROBABLY older than my car -- I say fuck that. That's going to cost more than the current KBB value of the car because I can't do the work myself.
The whole point of getting an RSX-S was not for it's surplus of high-revving friendly-modding ass-kicking power -- it's so I can get a new car. I want a smaller car thats more powerful and gets as good or better gas milage. That seems to fit the Type-S to a T, and well -- as far as the high-revving, friendly-modding, ass-kicking power -- we'll just call that a bonus

the RSX really doesnt get great mileage. Im at 1,673 miles and i average 23 MPG on 91. And 90% is highway miles. Maybe this will increase after awhile?
My 97 lude had nearly identical mileage.

lower your mileage you say you drive to 8k or less - tell them you drive short distances (school/work/whatever)
try to get someone like a parent or a spouse as a primary driver (this depends on your driving records and age) and put you as a secondary driver
tell them the car is garaged 365 days a year
tell them it has an actual alarm
make sure they have abs, air bags, front side air bags, etc.
if you have no record or are a student with good grades get the discount

This is only about 1-2mpg less than my '94 Integra LS averaged, and I'd take that tradeoff for 70 additional horsepower.
