How would illegal street racing be done safer?

I've seen a lot of people end up with spun bearings because of the G forces causing the oil to go away from the pickup. It's a much longer run at constant high rpm...clutch still takes a beating on the start and shifting. Racing period, any kind of it, is going to put stress on a car.

i say the safest way to do it is not to do it at all. If you want to race someone make sure ur in an empted deserted place where no one other than the racers and spectators can be hurt. No innocent bystanders whatsoever. Spectators are included because by participating in this event by watching they are supporting such illicit behavior.
Oh yeah we have lots of empty deserts in the east

The only other alternative I could see besides going to the track, would be a professionally organized event at someplace like an old airstrip, in areas where a track might not be readily available. However, I suspect that street racers would still find a lame excuse not to participate even then.
