Yeah but it's a beat up 944... Bondo'd and shit. I hope it gets cleaned up though. But car covering at school is just a little too obsessive-compulsive, don't you think? Especially if you're only at school 5 hours a day.

I didn't realize you meant he commutes to school. When I think "at school" I think of someone living at school.

The original "poor man's Porsche" was the 912.

The 914-6 had a proper flat six like Porsches of the day should. But then Porsche cheaped it out and switched to a flat-4.

Whatever, they're all Porsches.

The 914 started out with the 4, then moved up to the 6. The Type IV motor was develped for the transporter, then they figured out it would be a nice motor for other uses. It is more of a rich man's VW than a poor man's Porsche. I like the light, mid-engine thing. It is tough to argue with a car that is around 2000 lbs and has all its weight in the middle towards the ground, it is just going to handle well. That is why a Beck is in my future.
