How much should I expect to pay?
In labor for a shop to take out my busted motor and replace it with one that I'd already have purchased on my own?
Friend of the family estimated 1,400-1,700. Seems a tad high to me as many of his labor estimates are, but I don't know for certain.
So can anyone give me a rough idea?

Well my dad apparently has friends (though I never see em
) and one of them gave him a general area of $1,300 for a reconditioned motor+labor. I guess this reconditioned thingy includes new hoses, timing belt, water pump, etc.
Anyone know about these reconditioned jobs?

Well, originally our other friend wanted us to go to his guy, the first price didn't include the motor. so it would have been 300-600 to get a motor, then 1400+ to put it in.
But this other guy who my dad knows says it'd be more of a pain in the ass in case something was wrong with the motor if I bought my own and brought it to him. Finger pointing at whose fault it was and so on. So he'd supply to motor as well as labor that way if anything was wrong it could only come back to him and there'd be no hassle. Makes sense to me, I suppose.
So he said he can get a reconditioned motor and put it in for a total of 1,300.
