I worked on a used car lot years ago. They were not going to put any money into a car unless it had an obvious problem. The sales manager did some sneaky things to cars. I remember one time he had a whitewall tire on a car with 3 blackwalls. I watched him take tire black and paint over the whitewall, heh heh. Another time a car had a bent bumper. He took a block of wood and hammered it between the plastic covering and the beam to make the bumper smoother. The fun part was that he asked me to keep the cars driven, so I obliged. :rick:

Do your homework and do the Carfax. If the price too low watch out. About a year ago I was eyeing this nice little used 2002 Civic displayed prominently out in front of the dealer, and couldn't believe the price. I inspected the outside (it was after closing time) and noticed that the windshield looked a little askew. Suspicious, I went home and did a Carfax and there were nine reports on it.

What a dumb bitch. She could have had a new merc or bmw for that.
That is exactly what I told her. Buying expensive shit sucks when you have no credit whatsoever. Interest rates are a bitch unless you make double payments. And even then, you still get ripped. It is just a lesson not to get yourself into credit card debt that ruins your credit.

I can sympathize with you guys who are talking about the bait and switch tactic. When i was looking for a car i went to a town about 1 hr away to check out a few cars that i was interested in, and of course they did not have them. however, the sales people did not try to waste my time by trying to get me to look at something i wasnt interested in, which was good, but i still wasted my time with them. it has happened to me too much so i say :airon: to them most of the time. anothor time i called about one car and asked the guy if there was anything wrong with it and he said nothing, and when i actually looked at it the damn thing was totalled! bunch of liars. there are a few gems out there. i got my 96 LS with 58k miles and a clear carfax for good price at a small local dealer, but it seems i had to look forever for that deal. you can find the good deals, but you have to be prepared to spend a lot of time looking. i prefer private sellers. you can usually get the a better deal that way.
