Just kidding.

I knew a few ex- Army Rangers when I was in the Marines who switched services. They had to go through boot and all the trainign again for their moves, unlike Marines who can change to any branch and not do any additional boot camp, because the rest of the services know its better.

But anyways... the rangers said that even the basic training that the Marines do is alot more challenging then the stuff they did.

I was in the Air Force for 4 years and my wife has been in for about 9 now. We love it.

It has opened up so many opportunities for us that we would not have had otherwise. I recommend the AF.

i was planning to do navy rotc in college. then afterwards, i wanna go through bud/s training. try to become a navy seal . I'd try hard to get through it, but if i dont make it... maybe marines.. force recon. If I can't make that, I'd just go Army rangers.

Good luck being able to switch from branch to branch like that... its harder then you think.

I know the AF guys have it a LOT better than Army guys have it. They get mo money, better food, better living quarters, and pretty much have a better job overall. Plus thier PT (physical training) requirements are said to be easier.

.
What is said is all true. They are a spoiled bunch of civilians in uniform. There boot camp is like summercamp , 6 weeks is a joke. I have not yet come across any Air Force personel that I can respect. No discipline , no respect for their officers , out of shape , and so on.

Sorry if it seems like Im detering you from joining the AF , but whatever you choose will be good for you in a way. It all depends how much of a challenge your willing to undertake. I just wish more kids would sign up so they can grow up and learn some respect.

Well put.

USAF, USCG, USN, USA, USMC

Thats pretty much the order of the branches in regards to most like a 9-5 day to day civilian job to not a job, but a way of life.

Air Force employs airmen, Navy employs sailors and the Army has soldiers. The Marines are the only branch that doesn't have a name like that. You're a Marine.

Allthough the Marines show respect to the officers, they generally don't like them. Good officers are just too few and far between. Unfortuatly they focus more on their career instead of their men. USMC doesn't work well like that.

Marines have a lot of pride in their history. Army does too since Army was the first and oldest, but we've become more and more technical in the last decade.
The Army gave birth to the Air Force, and the Navy gave birth to the Marines.

You don't have a flocking clue about what you are talking about... :squint:

Let's look at this from a career standpoint, shall we? You join some special forces outfit and you're super hard ass that gets all the respect from the kids in the forums because you've done hard time in the Army or Marines (cause they're better ). You get out of that branch with what exprience? You'll have a badass security clearance (which is great to have), but what else?

Experience
- Throws grenades swell
- Kills without a conscience
- Can sneak up and take your coffee cup without you ever knowing he was there

Seriously though, you will not gain a great deal of applicable corporate experience that you can use to market yourself once you get out. Consider your future when taking the military option into account. What do you want to do with your life? Once you find something, the military will likely have that job available for you. They will train you and pay for most of your college if you choose to go while you are in (or use the GI Bill once you get out - if you buy into it.. .which you SHOULD!)

For those of you that have seen Full Metal Jacket and Biloxi Blues and think you are all up to speed on the different branches, shut your traps. You don't have the first clue about what each of the branches have to offer. My strong advice, think of your future.

That is all...

If you want technical skills and good education benefits, don't join the Marines. We are warfighters and that is our sole purpose for exsistence. There was a time when the government was considereing doing away with the Corps completely... But than 9/11 went down.

10 November 1775... when the Marines were formed. Not sure when they went under the wing of the Navy, but I know they founded themselves.

If anybody joins ANY service to gain "applicable corporate experience", go the **** home.

Its possible to get the technical skills.. there are tons of P.O.G. spots. You just wont get that in the Infantry though.
