Unemployment is not particularly low. Also employment rate says nothing about the types of jobs available.

The dollar is super low right now. Why is it low? In part because China's yuan is undervalued and making the dollar low helps stave off the loss of manufacturing jobs to China. That also has to do with why interest rates are low. Keep the value of the dollar low, and inflation and interest rates stay low. Those low interest rates are good for certain things like housing and cars (notwithstanding the fact that the automotive industry is in a definite rut at the moment) but not good for people trying to make money on interest rates.

The stock market is also not in an upswing. It is stagnant. Why? The low dollar, low interest rates, and diminished revenues which can only be made up for so much by ever-smaller increases in efficiency.

No real economist would tell you we're in the middle of a boom right now, and that's because we're not. Is the economy falling apart at the seams? No. But it's not that great and the part of it which the government does have direct control over--the federal budget--is out of control.

I for one am not so presumptuous as to think that the health of the economy totally hinges on who is in the oval office. I don't really think it's a good campaign issue. I think federal budget policy is a better one.

Does that look like a stock market on the upswing to you?

Unemployment certainly isn't "low." They're alright, but haven't been dropping as fast as we've been expecting. Retail sales have been slow, and as a result companies aren't hiring as many people for holiday season employment.

GDP growth rates aren't meeting expectations. Corporations aren't meeting profit expectations. Job growth isn't meeting expectations. Consumer confidence is falling steadily.

Overall, we're either still in the middle of a soft patch, or else this is the slowest recovery from a recession in recent history.

Only administration in 75 years to have an overall jobs loss. That isn't terrorism, that isn't Iraq, that isn't hurricanes... that's crap. Wars and large deficit spending both spur growth... they aren't immediately bad for the economy.

We've also had an overall exports loss during this administration's term. That has occured despite the drastic fall in the real value of the US dollar.

Well most of these arguments have been hashed out already and it is obvious neither side will agree. So I am going to leave you with a quote from Steve Forbes in his October 18th issues of Forbes Magazine. In a piece entitled No Coincidence Forbes says...

"When President Bush moves up in the polls, so does the stock market. And vice versa."

All the while, attending to our delicate economy that was damaged by:
a stock market recovering from the dot.com boom.
the events of Sept. 11th
engaging the War in Afghanistan
engaging the War in Iraq

Events that have placed more demands this president than on any other previous president in recent history.

He didn't do too bad for a piece of shit retard, did he?
Uhhhhh......what new democracy has been established in Iraq? Have u watched the news lately?

Our economy still sucks.

Yeah events have placed more of a demand on this president and he dropped the ball.

I'm overall probably in the middle somewhere. I would have voted for Clinton had I been old enough to vote, but last election I voted for Bush being if both candidates suck, I'll go for the president who is looking out for my money
However Bush sucked it long and hard this term. I don't like Kerry a whole lot but IMO he is better than Bush and if Bush is president again, I won't be too unhappy because that will mean more money in my pocket thanks to his tax cuts for upper class, but I think he will really ass**** our country.

i believe what makes this election so bad is the misinformation being spread by both candidates. i believe the worst has come mostly from the democrat side by hollywood and musicians who support kerry that pray on the uneducated 18-25 yr old voters.

if these candidates could debate the facts and supporters didn't spread partisian propaganda we would be much better off.

Here's an equally educated statement to the one you just made:

I believe the worst has come mostly from the Republican side by cloack and dagger authoritarians that prey on religious voters.

Either way you say it, that sounds ridiculous.

The campaigns themselves have made plenty of distortions, and if you look at factcheck.org I don't think you'll find an overwhelming proportion of the misleading stuff on one side or the other.

the difference is you don't see them on MTV, VH1, and on your street corners. i didn't see a christian music video spewing proganda against kerry nor have i seen bush supporters with picket signs at dangerous intersection distracting traffic.

Your buddy Ted Nugent called and said he was dissapointed you haven't seen his commercials. Aside from him there are other outlets for Republican propaganda on tv, for example Fox News. I for one have personally been stuck in traffic thanks Bush supporters holding up signs.

Both sides are doing it. That's politics.

i have.

seriously guys, why do you bother arguing? you're never gonna change each others minds, and plus the election is tomorrow. almost all politicians are dirty, both sides of the media are talking trash, blah blah blah. just sit back, relax, vote, and enjoy the show.
