These are socialist activities. I did not say liberals were socialists. I said their plans they now want to enact are socialist.
Just out of curiousity....do you see socialized medicine to be a bad thing?

I don't think taking from the rich and giving to the poor is a truly accurate description of the idea but I do see what you mean by it too.

Yes I do think socialized healthcare is a bad thing.

Why?

Shouldn't everyone be priviledge to medical coverage and care?

Yes I do and I work hard to get it. I have worked hard all my life. I worked my way through undergraduate school. Once I had my degree I went out and got a good job. Then I worked my way through graduate school. I bust my ass to have what I have.

Sure there are many people that work as hard as me and don't have health care. But more times there are people who do not work as hard as me that do not have health care.

I could have choose a different route and may not have health care. Instead I chose to do what I have done and have earned it myself.

I think Heathcare should be made more affordable so that more people can afford it. However, I do not think we as a nation should be giving it out for free and making the people who are already wrking hard for their healthcare pay for everyone else's healthcare as well.

:werd:

I have health insurance from my job. My union fought for my insurance (another reason why I'm voting for Kerry is that he is pro-union). At the same time, my job pays me relatively well, compared to the median wage of people in their early twenties around here. With that said, the amount that my company pays for my health insurance is equal to half of my gross pay. If I wasn't getting my health insurance from my company, I wouldn't pay for it, because that would send me to the poor house.

Well if it was national healthcare why not just drop your current and go to the national plan sure would save you some money that way.

Aside from that....so you are saying that because you can afford your own healthcare and pay your taxes that everyone should be able to do the same? Last I checked the breaking point for not paying taxes was some ridiculously low number that no one could survive on.

Now with that being said it would come to reason that their taxes are just as much paying for their health care as your taxes are. In fact the lower tax line population is probably paying for more of it than the higher income tax population just because of sheer numbers.

I agree with you that it is a priveledge to have healthcare. It would be nice if everyone could afford heathcare. But just giving it to people is not the way to go. Why should those who work hard for it and pay high premiums to get it also be taxed even more to pay for others who are not working for their healthcare benefits?

Because sometimes $1400 a month to feed a family of four doesn't leave quite enough money to pay the insurance premiums.

Has your family honestly ever been on welfare, gone hungry because there wasn't enough money left in the month, had to buy rice or beans in bulk because at the end of the month it may just be the last weeks meals?

Seriously I am wondering this and not trying to pick at you.

I bust my ass too. I work 35 hrs/week, moving an average of 25,000 lbs per hour, while going to school fulltime. The difference between me and you is that I don't live in NY, and my wages are shit compared to yours. We may have some things cheaper than you guys, like housing, but health insurance plans don't get much cheaper for us. I've lived without health insurance for nearly 15 years of my life. I'm lucky that I've never broke a bone, I would be walking bow-legged today, at the age of 20.
