Default Spoke to soon.

Hey guys after coming home from the AutoX last sunday my car has been running real hot and getting close to the red line. I thought it might have been due to me lacking a coolant resevoir. So i went and got one and then got the tubing and hooked it up to my radiator. Everything was fine Tue-Thu.

Today im on my way home and im stuck in traffic. I just so happen to glance down and what do i see. My temperature gauge going up again. @%$*@)#@)%#&^%$*@! is all you hear coming from my mouth.

I pull over and check under the hood. Seems the tube going into the resevoir came out some how. So after securing that. I noticed there was no Anti-Freeze in my radiator. *&$*@)^#*&@^%#)@&#_@ I know i filled it up Monday. No matter i go in my trunk and pull out some antifreeze and puts it in there.

Everything was cool, until......

I was sitting in KFC parking lot and the gauge started going up again. (*^#@*(^*&@)#&^)*&$#&$(*)@. I start driving and the gauge goes back to normal and it stayed normal for the remainder of the way home. Now im starting to notice that my gauge goes up whenever im sitting in traffic or whenever im waiting for something. Once i start moving the gauge goes back down. I dont understand it for the life of me. If someone could possibly help me out that will be greatly appreciated.

Well, when you are moving you have air flowing over the radiator and cooling it. When you are sitting still, all you have is your electric fan. Is that working? If it isn't it could either be the fan itself or the fan relay or the coolant temp switch that triggers the fan relay.

Do you think it could be something bad within the engine. I mean i never had a problem until i went to Grantville for the AutoX. After that long drive it just starts running hot now.

The fan works i know that for a fact. When i took it to my mechanic he filled it up with antifreeze and we let it run for like 5 minutes and then the fan came on. I know the fan works.

Would the leak be within the radiator or somewhere else. I'll have my mechanic tomorrow look it over for some leaks and see if the thermostat is bad. But if the thermostat was bad that would make it run hot??

if the thermostat (not to be confused with temperature guage ) is bad, that means it is not opening, thus not letting cooled water from your radiator into your engine.

Thanx man. I'll have my mechanic look at it tomorrow and see if my Thermostat is bad. I hope its something as simple as that. I also hope it wont be that expensive to replace.
