Does it come on and stay on when you are having the overheating problem? Also, it could possibly not be spinning as fast as it is supposed to, like worn out or something.

To check for leaks just get the engine warmed up and park the car with the engine running. Do you develop any little coolant puddles? Maybe autoxing you got the system hotter and under greater pressure than usual and sprung a leak somewhere. If coolant is leaking out from under the timing cover, you have a bad water pump.

When it came on it stayed on and then cut off. I asked was that normal my mechanic was like yea.....the fan goes off and on.

I never seen a coolant puddle yet and trust me i look for them. When i went out to Gville that was the farthest i had ever driven the car for such a prolong period of time. Maybe de.fused might be right about my Thermostat going bad. At least I hope it is. I'll have mr mechanic call all the area you guys just mentioned above.

Ehhh if you've been running like this for over a week, you may have warped your head.

yeah, if the t-stat is sticking you could be boiling over and puking all the coolant out the overflow. It has to be going somewhere.....lets hope the engine doesn't have a bad head gasket. Your exhaust doesnt' have a sweet smell to it, does it?
