When you own one or drive more than around the block, maybe you can make intellegent, even educated, comments?

<this is krazywhitboy's freind with the gst. i knew he browsed the forums here but until this was posted in our forums i didnt know he was browsing it on my pc till i saw the top of the page where hes logged in already. sweet.

and i read what you said. how can you flat out tell me that STI was not racing. we raced about 5 seconds before that and didnt get that part on vid cause krazy wasnt ready to tape. then the camera rolled and the fun began. i pulled a 15.3 stock in my gst. if i were to take a 2 hour drive i know i could hit mid to low 14's at the track, and thats with maybe 800 in actual mods(act2100 clutch, intake, custom catback, greddy bov, ic piping kit) and i havent even turned up the boost. and the typeR i raced was from a 30-90 and he stayed right next to me the whole time, and thats when i had just the intake, catback and greedy bov. i beat a s2k by a carlength right before i fried my clutch, needless to say i havent seen him at the cruise anymore. cool guy too.

krazywhitboy has owned almost every type of car. his first was a 89 5.0 with svt heads, and i think bored out a little. then a gmc sonoma, then a RSX-S, then a 91ish CRX, then a 97? Integra LS that could make GSR's blush, krazy can drive no doubts about that. then after the teg sold he bought a 90 Talon TSI AWD, the thing was a huptee, but still was a pretty fast car from a light. then traded that straight over for a 300zx n/t. then didnt like that i guess and traded that for yet another CRX, which he then tried to do the mpfi swap and failed, now thats for sale.now hes looking for yet another 1st gen awd in good condition. for him to say a GST is fast is pretty dam good. this is also the same guy who took a 04 cobra for a test drive and had the shakes afterwards.

i have raced a few hondas and have gotten suprised. but thats prolly a 1/20 occurance, and the one i did lose to had a b18 motor with nitrous, and no interior, a cage and drag radials. he said he only used his nitrous till he got to 70, and i think thats the time he was about 1.5 car ahead and i started to pull but i stopped at my 90mph mark cause any faster on a street is just stoopid. but more power to him, he spent maybe 5g's on his setup and another 10 for his hatchback, so 15 in the hole and he *might* get low 14's at the track. whereas put my car at 7500, and 1000 in mods and the same speed. i was just talking to this guy at my uncles work with a modded civic coupe. it has a b16vtec whatever, turbo(which is actually the stock turbo from my car, our hand me downs become your goldmines) running 10lbs, forged internals, and just about every other supporting mod you could think of, standalone, etc. his best time? 13.735. you know what his "built" engine cost him? 7grand. then the "Stage 3 turbo kit" was around 4g's, fuel control, injectors, pump, etc. not a bad way to spend 15grand, he might as well bought a srt4 and left it stock, he wouldve saved about 5-7 grand on the car+mods. and to top that off, his car looks like crap, fenders chewed up, donuts instead of real wheels/tires, cause them 14's weigh less. must suck to have no torque to make up for it. i asked him "hows traction?" and he said "not bad at all, i have little wheelspin in 1st and 2nd just chirps so loud". wow, that must be a dream come true for me, i spin all of 1st and hit 2nd and have massive torque steer. anyone know what that is? well someday maybe you will.

granted i have a better car to start out with. 4g63 can hold 25psi and 500hp on stock internals with a good tune. and if you got 4000 that goal is well within youre reach. if you get a 1st gen AWD for around 2-3 grand, then add another 4 grand in mods and youre at 7 grand with a 500hp 11 second car on pump gas. its so easily attainable its sometimes not even funny to see how these cars are so cheap.

you might say theyre very unreliable. well add a turbo and 20lbs of boost to a honda and you can throw "daily driver" right out the window. dsm's are like women, if you run them hard and dont buy them flowers they dump you. dont do your maintenance and bad things can happen. more than likely the 2 guys up a few posts with the galants are thoroughly checking every sensor, bolt and screw to make sure everythings in tip top shape. i know after i was the car i go through the engine bay, and if i wash it after a weekend youre dam sure my hands are going all over that thing like white on rice making sure its all good. and if you say "well you shouldnt have to do that, its just a car" then you shouldnt mod it. anyone who mods a car knows or should know what theyre getting into. you cant mod a car then not put any tlc into it, thats not the way it works. you mod the car cause you like to either A) go fast in it/race, B) just work on it cause its fun, or C) mod it cause the feeling when it all comes together is oh so good.

stock v. stock the GST is owns a GSR and you can add hp for less money. The downside to the GST would be that it's a POS ,*cough*crankwalk, and the GSR handles better. The GSR makes a better daily driver, but if you want speed get the GST. If you want to drag race don't get GST, get the GSX cause you'll be very dissapointed.

Mid-low 14's doesn't put you close to an STi. 5 seconds isn't an accurate gauge for a race. I'm sure if you wanted to you could find someone with an STi to run and figure it all out, or go to the track and prove us wrong. Where in Norcal do you live anyways?

I'm gonna have to call this guy an idiot. For 7 g's I could build a motor AND do a turbo setup. Shit, even just a turbo setup on my stock B18 could get me into the 12's. I've seen a GSR run 13.7's all day on drag radials, and a 50 shot with an intake.

Fine then, I shall elaborate.

Back when I had my GSR, I traded cars for a day with a friend with said TSi AWD.

It was high off the ground, it had tiny windows, the dash was freakin huge, I couldn't see the front of the car, the steering was slow, it was relatively cushy over bumps, it was heavy, and the turbo spooled up quickly.

But see, it's easier for me to type out "chop roof minivan with a turbo" than all of that stuff.

I'm sure you like your car and that's fine and dandy. I just stated my opinion of the car, not of its owners.
