He was a musician then, and he's a peace activist now.

Therein lies the problem, we really can't have people wanting world peace now can we when we have this excellent population control mechanism called war.

In July 2000, Islam was deported hours after arriving in Jerusalem. A local paper reported then that the government claimed he had delivered tens of thousands of dollars to Hamas during a visit in 1988. Islam denied ever knowingly supporting Islamic terrorists.

Islam has made a number of trips to the United States in recent years, including one in May for a charity event and to promote a DVD of his 1976 MajiKat tour. He donated half the royalties from his most recent boxed set to the Sept. 11 Fund to help victims of the attacks.

The dude's a peace activist. That's the absolute most information I could find about why he was on the list, and that isn't exactly what I would call definitive.
Do you think the United States Government is going to sift through each person to find out if they "accidentally" or "knowingly" supported these places or not? Hell no, and I hope they don't.

They need to look through the documents, see who funded HAMAS and whomever else is a state-designated terrorist organization, and put those who donated to them on the list.

If a person who gets put on the list donated to a different charity, and *that* charity then gave it to the terrorist organization, then maybe that person should be a little more careful with what charity they give their money to, and make sure it's not being sent down the line to terrorist groups.

Does that mean they're going to deport Sheryl as well?

And Barbra? Where will they send Barbra to?

Like giving money to the catholic church way back when and then having them go on "holy wars?"

That would be the same as supporting the AL Sadr Army of today, yes.

CAT STEVENS wasn't put a list for no reason, or just because he was Muslim. He was put on a list because both Israeli and American Intelligence Agency's have routed his money to HAMAS and HAMAS is a terrorist organization. Period.

I don't care what he advocates, his money went there so he gets put on a list. Done.

You know, the Iraqi's who are chopping the heads off of Civilians also advocate Peace, and they advocate that Islam says they must kill all the infedels; yet you don't believe them. You know Islam doesn't say to kill everyone who doesn't believe, and you know they don't believe in peace. -- what makes any other person any different? Anyone can change.... including Cat Stevens.

And what sort of reliable information is there to support the claim that his money actually ended up with Hamas? The point is that we don't know shit, and I'm not placing blind faith in the efficacy of this list when Ted Kennedy has also ended up on it.

So better to have no list at all and just let every Tom, Dick and Harry into the country. Sure go ahead, let's do that. I'll be the first one saying told ya so when we get attacked again :hapysad:

Have I said that? Please find something I have said which resembles, "get rid of the list," because I don't believe I have. What I have been saying this whole time is that people are being mistakenly identified as terrorists when really they have nothing at all to do with terrorism, and I find that to be inexcusable.
