I'm here.

To be getting 18mpg out of a 238hp N/A Rotary is amazing. I see a lot of 146-160hp N/A FC's doing the same (luckily I get about 22/26)

As has been covered in the few dozen other RX-8 vs. S2k threads, they are different cars. The RX-8 is not a sports car, even though it can be passed off as one. Decided how many seats, doors, and type of roof you want. That alone will pick a car for you. Six speed RX-8's do drive sweet though, as does the Mazdaspeed Miata.

He said his price range is high 20s up to about 30k. That could get him a supra but for a fairly nice one he will have nowhere near an extra 10k. There are plenty with 80 to 100k on the clock and relatively stock going in the $25K range with some being more and you can generally find autos for a little less. Unless you get lucky and find someone that doesnt know what they have you end up paying a good amount for the car.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Anyway, for the money, yeah, you can buy a sweet Skyline. But then considering you'll have to go back to the importer for almost every replacement part... you better hope you get a reliable car.

American market cars look nice just for that.

Yeah you're probably right. I'm 5'10" but I only have a 30" inseam (long torso, short legs) so my legs fit fine but my head is almost brushing on the inside of the top. Your legs are most likely too long.

The S2000 is really nice but the console eats up a lot of space inside the interior, so to me at least it feels less roomy overall than the Miata. Although if the issue is more the length of the cockpit then it's probably got the advantage.

The RX-8 is a fun car and to me it drives more like a sports car than the 350Z even if the 350Z is the one with the "true sports car" body style. Shit, technically any car with a real roof is a grand tourer anyway, so the only sports cars in the bunch are the S2000 and Miata.

I'd say a Supra is an unlikely proposition, and a Skyline is even less so.

Interesting note... a good friend of mine came by last night to help me work on the truck (he drives a 2002 Miata). After working on the truck (flushed the brake lines), we got talking about cars and I mentioned looking for a new vehicle. To make a long story short, he showed me that if I put the seat forward one notch and then tilt it back a bit more, I have room to fit. He also offered to let me borrow it for a couple of days next week (he needs to borrow the truck). So I may take him up on it and see if the Miata would really work.
