as for the keeping the same car a long time. I can get my stock paper filter for $15. Which lasts 3 years or 60K miles. K&N drop in for my car was $45. That's 180K miles or 9 years. Plus you have to spend money for the filter recharger kit every 50K miles at $15/kit.

Math didn't work out for me.
$10* a kit

:werd: me too. K&N is universally accepted as a great product by enthusiasts of all types of cars and motorcycles. Whether its imports, domestics, trucks, sport bikes, etc. they all use K&Ns. That has to say something.

i don't think my k&n did much of anything.. :dunno: however, i can supposedly leave it in for 100k without it requiring a cleaning. i'm too paranoid to go that far; although, supposedly the dirtier it gets, the better it filters.

but again, i didn't notice a change in anything. i may as well go back to a paper filter, but the k&n does look cool.

edit > i lied. i did notice one thing. depending on the weather, at certain throttle positions, i can hear a faint whistle. i never heard this on the paper filter. that's all. i'm a ricer. h:

your butt dyno must have a very tight tolerance and is very tightly tuned to notice such a difference. Because I couldn't feel the 2hp loss in my car which dynoed at 223hp (225hp with stock filter).

BTW we are talking about the drop in filter for the stock airbox not the cone filter.
