Default K&N Air Filter

Not a big fan of intakes given issues we've had before with the idle on my brother's cars. Is a K&N filter worth the investment or is it just a pure waste of money?

it's worth it if you plan to keep the same car for a long time

It's been proven over and over again. Hell, that reminds me I have to order one to replace my HKS.

waste of money. i actually dynoed it back to back. stock filter first then K&N. actually lost 2hp.

as for the keeping the same car a long time. I can get my stock paper filter for $15. Which lasts 3 years or 60K miles. K&N drop in for my car was $45. That's 180K miles or 9 years. Plus you have to spend money for the filter recharger kit every 50K miles at $15/kit.

Math didn't work out for me.

well like i said the math didn't work out for me

even at 30K miles I would still stick with my stock air filter. of course I only put 40K miles in the past 5 years

What about UNI filters? I was thinking this same thing today...lot of negative things about K&N.

Paper filters better then foam. It's all in what you want, better performance or good filtering.

It looks racer-ish and has a cool sound.
