If you want a truck with no balls, get the 4 cylinder. That's what I have
It'll get you from a to b, but not very fast. Then again, most people who buy trucks get them for their utilitarian purposes, unless your getting an F150 Lightning.

Comming from your G, get a v6 or you'll regret it later.

Few years back, friend of mine bought an 1980 560SEC in Nevada, bored the 5.6L V8 out to 6.1L, hi-comp pistons and 1.7:1 roller-rocker valvetrain, cam, revision to fueling, etc....then brought it into CA. It may drink like mad but it runs hard as hell. Sounds fantastic too. h:

 

I hope he upgraded the brake system at the very least

He could get a 80's M6 and have a better driving experience and just as much squeeks, rattles and little problems as the 560SEC :rick:

 

How about an '01 330i? It doesn't have the dumb looking newer front end, and you could probably snag one for about $25k.

the stock bumpers one the E46, pre and post face lift are dumb/ugly.

If I were in your shoes:
1) I'd Seriously consider how degraded the steering response is gonna be in a truck. Personally, I'd consider many other cars before I was willing to forsake handling precision to that degree.

2) Saving money is one thing (and an admirable one at that), but if you're not going to take the vehicle to Tahoe or off-road, why make all the sacrifices on the daily commute?
