I get blood labs about every 6 to 9 weeks, and visit the Liver Clinic only once every 9 months now. At the beginning right after transplant the blood work was weekly and the medication changes were that often also. I also had visits to the Liver Clinic weekly. They weaned me of the different medications as quickly as they could by using the blood work to determine how I was doing. Currently I am only taking 1 mg of ProGraf (anti-rejection med) twice a day. I am however taking other meds to deal with other problems that may be transplant related.

I'm just hoping my old man doesn't have cancer, but I might be lying to myself. The alpha fetoprotein on my dad's lab was off the charts and that is pretty definitive of liver cancer. but they are going to run more test as soon as the insurance approves of them.

Here's wishing you and your "old man" well.
BTW I was 54 at the time of my transplant.
