Congrats on finally getting the transplant. I am seriously happy as hell for you and I am sure you will get the most out of the new life it is providing you with.

My best to both you and your wife as well as your entire family for all their support to you in this both in the past and in the future. We at HA also send our best out to you because without you I would be one step higher on the oldest member list

I actually feel like I have regained some of my youth. Thanks for the support! The first year there are a lot of Clinic and Doctor visits, weekly blood draws for a while, etc. as they adjust my anti rejection drugs.

Why did you require to have a liver transplant? My dad might have liver cancer and i'm just curious.

No, it's just running in the background slowly taking my new liver. If it takes the same amount of time to kill this liver like the 30 or so years it took to take out my native liver then I should make it to about 84-86 years old.

The treatment for a cure would have me going through 48 weeks of self injected chemotherapy along with several in hospital visits, and the prognosis for me is less than 20% likelihood of success, and it could kill this liver as well.

And Ribovirin, it's also similar to the treatment for AIDS.
