i didnt read the thread...but does the mobo have onboard sound? if so, you can plug that in and deduct the speakers as one of the problems.

also, if your mobo does have onboard sound, make sure it's diabled in the bios.. that may cause problems as well

Worst case, go to walmart, buy new card, try it out, if it works return old one in box.
