just pull the card out of the PCI slot and press it back in firmly so that there's a good connection.. also can't hurt to blow out the PCI slot with some compressed air to clean out any crap that may be in there

i didnt read the thread...but does the mobo have onboard sound? if so, you can plug that in and deduct the speakers as one of the problems. h:

also, if your mobo does have onboard sound, make sure it's diabled in the bios.. that may cause problems as well

Worst case, go to walmart, buy new card, try it out, if it works return old one in box.
