no, i didn't miss that part. but it didn't mean anything for you to include it. that's like saying, "*no offense* but you are uglier than sin" or "i'm sorry, *but*..." trying to justify your comment totally voids the positive spin you were attempting to attach to the racist garbage.

Why not make welfare a repayable thing?

My student loans sure are...MAKE welfare a LOAN.

That is a great idea in theory, but in practice I think it would just be another deterrent for the people who are trying to better themselves. As it is I am a single mom in college. I am unemployed and receive childcare vouchers that pay for all but $20 a week for my son, my rent is $16 dollars a month and I get a little over $175 dollars for food stamps and everything else I balance with child support and careful budgeting. If I was to go back to even a part time job (around another 500 a month coming in), my rent would go up to $220, my copay on the vouchers would jump to $50 and my food stamps would drop to less than $100 (right around $65). So by me getting a job, I would actually be farther in the hole every month than if I just stay on these no-limit social services..forever. And before someone wants to try and use me as an example of a lazy welfare abuser, I am technically not on welfare, I have NEVER received the cash benefits and refused them every time they were offered.also, please note the part where I said I'm in college..I won't be in the ghetto forever.

you get more money for food a month than I do.

I know many people with kids who go to school and work full time.

I don't blame you, if I could get free help I would.

I blame the system.

Well when I was in college I wasn't just a broke student, I was typically one inch from being out of the street. I went days without any food to eat at all. I had extenuating circumstances that from 96-97 I didn't have a job. I did make it through just BARELY on student loans which I now have to repay, $22,000!

If to better myself I have to repay this debt why shouldn't welfare aid recipients have to do the same?

I've been on both ends...in 2001 I made $45,000 as a single person no property. And I was taxed about $10,000 in that year alone. I mean to me that's alot of money and b/c being single, no kids, no house...the govt was raking me over the coals as to them I was very wealthy. Political types use tax payer money as vote buying schemes really, that's either handouts, pork, military "pork", whatever. Very little of what's collected actually goes toward what the Constitution of the United States intended for the role of the federal government.

Ever hear of the Earned Income Child credit for taxes? Did you know if you paid little to no taxes, PAID NO TAXES (this is important) and you get a credit for such and such for having a kid, the IRS cuts you a check for money you didn't even pay.
It's free to you but ya know it came out of someone else's pocket? Someone else had to work and earn that money. But what does Congress care..it's a great way to buy votes.
