plus if your mom and your bro dont get alone, i think it would be very smart to consider stickin around to hold that situation down.. no clue if you need to, but it would be a big blow to your mom if you do die out there

And my mom's the main reason why I haven't been 100% gung-ho for this. While she would be incredibly proud for me if I were to join, she doesn't want any harm to befall me...

Epoch, I know you've tried quite alot of drugs. The USAF is the most strict when it comes to drug testing. When I was getting my physical for the Army I do remember them saying "if you're enlisting for the Air Force and done cocaine at least once, you're already terminated".

If you are military intelligence more than likely you are no going to have to be worried about your life being in danger you are nowhere near the front lines so barring an accident you are okay. My wife has been in Iraq for 9 months and I must say it sucks but she signed up and they said she had to go so she's gone. I have had friends die in this stupid war. Basically if you join the military do it for the right reason not because you want college money and you think your life will not be put in jeapordy. Don't join the Reserves and then bitch about being called up to defend your countries interests, and enjoy being places you will never see again most likely as much as possible.
Excellent post.
I agree with it 110%
to be an officer
If you're in school you can go through ROTC(best chance), if you want to finish school then go to OCS you can do that too.
bascially if you get to OCS, you're good to go as long as you don't do something really stupid while you're there. You will have already taken the AFOQT, you will have already been selected to be an officer, so long as you pass OCS. OCS is more competitive than ROTC, although ROTC is starting to get REALLY REALLY competitive. Next semester, our commander gets to pick and choose who stays in the program... this semester we're babying the younger cadets- pathetic.

You see the difference there "Police Action", War... not much either way you are in a hostile zone getting shot at by people that don't want you there. I don't know man do it if you want to do it, just don't base your decisions on who the President is. Plenty of Democrats have sent this nation to War or "Police Actions."
