I don't know how the ticket's/law is in your area, but in PA, you can either plead guilty or not guilty to a ticket. There is no "I know I screwed up, but I want a change to explain myself" option, but not guilty works fine. I got a speeding ticket before, 14 over the limit (was just in a hurry). I mailed the ticket back "not guilty" and had to put $50 down and they setup a court date with the local magistrate. The cop and I both had to appear before the magistrate. I've heard if the cop can't or doesn't show up, you just got off completely. The cop went first, explained what device he used to clock me (vascar), showed his certification to use it and described what happened. When it was my turn, I just said that I know I was speeding, but I was having a bad day and just wanted to get home. I was alone on the road on a clear sunny day and was just trying to hurry. I appologized for speeding and said I'd never do it again. He told me he'd reduce the fine to 5 mph over the limit from 14 which reduced the fine to $95 from ~$140 and had no points (my insurance wouldn't go up). He asked the cop if that was okay and the cop said I was complete gentleman when he pulled me over and had no objection so I walked out in a lot better shape then when I went in. The $50 I paid when pleading not guilty was applied to the fine so I only had to pay another $45 (supposevly I got the $50 back if I won or the officer didn't show up). I'm assuming you can try something similiar but I would call the magistrates office and ask them to be sure.

Nice car, my girlfriend's sister had a '00. Drove nice but I'm 6' 3" and I barely fit with the seat all the way back. My head kept hitting the sunroof.

What do you mean you crossed yellow lines? Are you saying the lines you crossed were a "double yellow line" as in a "no passing" zone. It basically comes down to if you feel your guilty or not. If you feel your not guilty show up to the designated court date and make your plea of not guilty. IT IS THIS SIMPLE. Or if you are going to plead guilty then call the police office/city and find out how much your ticket is for. Reminder, when you call give them the ticket number. Then write a check and put it in the mail, along with the ticket. Make sense now?

ok... after being on the phone for 30 mins... the lady is telling me she cannot find me in the sytem. And that i should NOT go to court on March 2nd like stated on the ticket.. and that i need to call back every 10 days until i show up in their system for further info. She stated that if i go to court as scheduled(mar 2) that i will have to wait in a huge line, only to find out they do not have me in the system... and that they will stamp the ticket saying i was there... and so dont bother going to court on that date. is this true?

I find this whole process retarded... the woman on the phone hung up on me before i could say anything.

Find out where they're located and walk in the front door and ask someone face to face. Sometimes these places are like that. I got into an accident a year or so ago and needed a copy of the police report. They jerked me around for about 5 days before I finally got a copy. I would absolutely confirm that you don't have to be there on that date and get that persons name. Not showing up might be very bad.

Sounds to me like the cop hasn't put the ticket into the system yet. Thats why your ticket isn't showing up. :dunno:

Your converstation sounds like what happened to me when I got pulled over for not having a front license plate. When I went down to show that I had put the plate on, the city office didn't show a ticket so they had me talk to another person who put it in and then I had to go back and stand in the same line I had stood in originally. :ghey: So I could finalize everything. But you have to do what you have to do.
