I used to watch Disney cartoons Duck Takes and Tale Spin when I was young. To this day, I still watch these shows sometimes on Toon Disney.

However, I don't like the shiet cartoons they have now on ABC Saturday mornings.

Animated:
Little Mermaid 2
Beauty and the Beast 2
Sleeping Beauty 2
101 Dalmations 2
Pocahontas 2
Jungle Book 2
Tarzan & Jane

Live Action:
George of the Jungle
George of the Jungle 2
Inspector Gadget
Inspector Gadget 2
Santa Clause 2
Air Bud
Air Bud: Golden Reciever
Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch
Air Bud: Spikes Back
Air Bud: World Pup

All of which sold like the big, steaming lumps of poo that they were.

Coming soon: Lion King 1 1/2.
And Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

Lets look at what Disney has sold that's done well lately.

Animated:
Mononoke Hime/Princess Mononoke - Awesome movie. They didn't make it. (Studio Ghibli)
Spirited Away - Awesome movie. They didn't make it. (Studio Ghibli)
Kiki's Delivery Service - They didn't make it. (Studio Ghibli)
Castle in the Sky - They didn't make it. (Studio Ghibli)
Toy Story - They didn't make it. (Pixar)
Bug's Life - They didn't make it. (Pixar)
Monster's Inc - They didn't make it. (Pixar)
Finding Nemo - They didn't make it. (Pixar)

Live Action:
Pirates of the Caribbean - All they did was supply the $. The only reason this movie didn't blow all day long was because it was directed by Gore Verbinski, who also directed The Ring :eh: and The Mexican :eh: :eh:

Thank you very much.

Disney didn't release Princess Mononoke though, Miramax did.
Disney didn't want to take Any of Studio Ghibli films cause they felt they weren't going to be strong sellers in the states. When it did release Spirited Away it wanted all of Stuio Ghibli's films also.

Miyazaki only agreed if they wouldn't alter the context.

I had to get a Region 3 of Spirited Away so I could watch it, then get the Dinsey release. Only a year later did Disney release it.

Spritied Away was released in the states in theatres but very select theatres.

I do have to admit the older Disney stuff, I enjoy. I like art they had in the 50s. I personally think Aladdin was the last good disney film made.

New stuff is too CGIish.

Disney = crapola.

Good thing that Pixar and Disney split; Disney was just sucking money from anynow.

Seems like the dark age of Disney is more obvious now; their last great animated film (and my favourite animated film of all time) they made was The Lion King.

No offense to Hayao Miyazaki fans, but I do not think his works beat The Lion King. Granted, they are masterpieces, but I just think The Lion King was better overall.

agree to all disney-haters.

Pirates owned... last thing good that Disney made was Lilo and Stitch, IMO. Even Lilo and Stitch wasn't thought up by a Disney guy as I remember it. I guess some outsider sold the entire movie idea to them. Before that... Lion King.

Pixar's been making quality stuff for years, though. They know what kids wanna see... CGI outtakes! bwahahaha. Monsters, Inc. outtakes are hillarious.

anyway in short.

Disney

Pixar

I refuse to watch any of the Disney released Miyazaki movies in english. Their translations are horribly skewed. Actually, even the 'literal english translation' subtitles aren't very literal. I find myself correcting the subs occaisionally. h:

Despite the high-priced cast of voices used for Mononoke Hime, imho Spirited Away has the best translation and voicework out of the set released so far.

Miramax is owned by Disney, as Nightshade stated. Disney was going to release it themselves but they couldn't get it down to a PG rating, and they didn't want a animated movie under the Disney label to be PG-13, so that got nixed. They still did all the voice work though.
