I am so sorry Jessica Lynch
Who ever said all of this is going down because she's, young, white, and female... I agree... (I think it was Spood) She's, in America's eyes, the ideal American girl. A god fearing girl who loves her country, her family and her man. I.e. INSTANT adoration by the american puclic. The media realised this... it's a sad example of the propaganda fed to the American's glued to their TVs during the duration of the war.
"HEY! We didn't find any WMD... BUT LOOK AT THE GIRL WHO GOT INJURED! SHe's young!! (Hey.. wait.. no don't look at that thing that says Bush may be wrong.) LOOK OVER HERE!! ALL-AMERICAN GIRL RESCUED!!!"
This girls name is now embeded into the minds of every American out there.
And Mandi.. I'm sorry.. but you said this happened to a black woman as well. I don't know her name... I never heard her story. :dunno:
I respect the compassion you have for her, I'm not saying the girl doesn't deserve compassion. But.. she was picked out for those exact reasons. Young, white and female.
It's just a sad fact of the way things go.

umm.. not exactly. determination of combatants falls under the hague convention of 1907 and is only briefly touched on again in the geneva convention under the treatment of POW's. individuals that are not wearing a uniform etc... are considered unlawful enemy combatants and are subject to combat

Well the friggin Army times says she is getting 90% so wfte
could really give a damn about the movied I did however watch it tonight and it was really damn accurate with the vehicles and uniforms at least, more than I can say about every other movie made about the military. The only other movies that are real close are Blackhawk Down, and Saving Private Ryan (or so my grampa who was in world war 2 says).

sorry i didn't clarify that.. generally that is true, but like any law, interpretation is the key and an act of agression can be about anything.

Sometimes I think people just don't *want* to believe that race has something to do with anything anymore. We want to think that we're past that sort of bigotry these days. ...But we're not. Just look at the the way the homosexual community is treated now. Same shit, different group of people that are different from your average white, middle class American.
I  when I read the "Hey we didn't find any WMD..."
GREAT mental picture.
