It still won't boost the gaming communities support....if there is a limited number of games available and better titles are more consistently released on another platform then gamers will pass it by.

Nintendo lied to the public on its release of the GC. They had promised one game per week to be released for the first year and after that one to two titles a month with increasing quality and developers.

It never happened and the market was lost at that point. People went back t PS2 and with the Xbox it all but shafted any interest in anything Nintendo had to offer.

Nintendo's hold to the market is its GameBoy Advance. Its pretty much a monopoly for the handheld market, but once Sony releases its PSP (handheld system more powerful than a dreamcast), Nintendo is going to be owned.

supposedly though, nintendo has some crazy new stuff up their sleeves....

I seriously doubt the PSP is going to touch NES at all. You have to remember that NES started in the handheld gaming market, they pioneered it and they have the best thing going with it. I think consoles were made by NES to push the market along because they have always had the hanheld market sewed up to make up for any losses in other areas.

This gap is growing though and the Gameboy market, although a huge money maker can't carry a unit that is losing millions in production forever....they are smart and know when to cut and run.....the possibility however may be a new platform change once again for NES....hmmmm.

Can't wait to test out the new PSP and PSX.

First of all, like I've said before:

GC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PS2 and Xbox

After the price drop, sales of the system have quadrupled and are holding strong. Nintendo is still developing games for the GC, and any decent 3rd party developers are still with them. They're also already working on the next generation gaming consoles, both handheld and home.

Ehhhhh...... love my GC as well but you have to be a realist about these things.

GC has some of the worst developer support in the business. Lowest number of titles available. Lowest frequency of releases dates (because of previous items mentioned). Sales of the system itself are nowhere near that of the PS2 or the Xbox.

dont get me wrong because it is a great gaming platform, but they just don't have the market at this point...you want a handheld then you own a Nintendo, but when it comes to console it tends to be one of the other two if not both.

Me personally I own all 3 and I play each of them pretty regular....but I haven't bought a game for the GC in almost 6 months and for the PS2 its been about 4 months.

I'm being a realist...there hasn't been a game on PS2 or Xbox (that wasn't available on the GC) that I've wanted in a long time. The only one I can think of now is Ninja Gaiden that's coming out on Xbox. There are still a couple that interest me on the GC that I might purchase.

Sure, PS2 and Xbox have more games, and they're released more frequently, but they all suck. Quality >>>> Quantity.

Cause they are in a disappointing 3rd place behind Xbox and PS2. They are planning to be the first one out for the next generation.

Which I still don't think is the problem with Nintendo, they just need to get more games out, not necessary faster.

SNES
N64  PS
GC  PS2  Xbox

See a thrend? Nintendo thinks that by coming out first means they will beat the PS3 and Xbox 2 in sales. Unfortunately its the games that influences that. After two disappointing video game systems, I hope Nintendo makes me eat my own words.
