you'd know as well as i do that some companies have certain odd procedures w/ they're products. @ the shop where i spend all my time (my dad's), they order parts from some company and they're plastics are bare, the metal are e-coated. juss depends

When you get bare ABS parts...what's your procedure for sanding them to make sure they don't peel? We used to get a lot of problems with bare ABS peeling 6-8 months after being painted? What we do is wash it first with Greased Lightning + Soap & Water, then wet sand it with 1000 grit, then go over that with a red ScotchBrite pad. That's worked so far, but I didn't know if there were other ways that worked just as well?

yeah, we do something similar. i clean em w/ comet, believe it or not. then wax/grease remover. i usually don't even use sand paper. red scotchbrites work well on there own. much better for those tiny ass holes, in shapes. we don't have any trouble w/ it. but paint h8s plastic, and rocks always tend to knock it off eventually.

Yeah, before paint, my dad's sprays on a product called Bulldog. It's an adhesive promotor. It's "like" double sided tape, but you spray it on and it works for paint.

If you see tons of ABS parts that are covered with a layer of primer then it has gone through someone that painted it. I use to work for the manufacturer, I know for a fact it does not come primered what ever shop you see that recieves primered ABS plstic parts are getting second hand merchandise. I know for a fact 100% that the manufacturer does not primer their products. One, it's a waste of time and two, its a waste of money. Trust me when i say they do not come sprayed primer. If it does then the recieved products are second hand merchandise.

I'm sure you didn't work for the manufacturer of every car company. Different companies have their products sent out differently. I work at a body shop, and I've had products come in right from the factory, OEM, with primer on them. It's a black primer, but it's still primer.
