Default removing caked on dirt/bugs

Car hasn't been detailed ever ('00), and i woke up this morning to wash it good just like the usual practice. I've never been able to get off caked on dirt, bugs, and small scrathces. Before I give ol bessy her first detail, what can i use to remove all that stuff...thanks

Bug and Tar remover? Hand Wash with a good CAR wash. Then use Claybar to smooth rough spots. Then use some Meguires NXT wax (Hand wax or Orbital) I think that it would look pretty decent after that.

the car wash just doesn't do anything for me I need to pick up a claybar, but i didn't think that would actually help with the bugs/dirt. I picked up some of the new turtle wax, we'll see how it does. But, i still just don't know how to get this shit off the car...i'm using one of those mitts to scrub with. Is there anything rougher to scuff it out without harming the clear/paint coats?

I would think to pre-spray with some bug and tar remover. Normally it takes a few mins to loosen the bugs, but then you wipe them off. Just follow the directions on the bottle and you should be good. About the turtle wax... I always heard to stay away from turtle wax. To use something like Meguires, Mother's, Mirror Glaze, or some of the other name brands. Inexpensive wax (from what I understand) is bad for your car. You could find some products that would work pretty good from Zaino Bros. wax ( http://www.zainobros.com ) But they are pretty expensive. (So is a paint job too if your paint gets ruined)

Using a clay bar will do wonders for preparing your paint to be detailed. Check out 5 Star Shine to use instead of regular wax. I've had it on my car for over a year now and it still works amazingly.
