Thinking of removing heat shields under the car.
I'm thinking about removing all the heat shields under the car. My question is:
Any reason not to remove the heatshields bolted under the car other than noise and comfort?
Is there anything I risk by doing so? I don't mind the noise since I'm completely gutted, and the heat I don't think will be a big factor.
I'm thinking of removing all the heat shields under the car. The ones that are by the gas tank, and by the shift linkage. All of 'em.

Personally the heat shield (sans the exhaust manifold) weigh all together around 5lbs. That's nothing and not worth the headache and extra heat in the cabin.

i took of my heat sheild because it was rattleing and i dont see how it would make a difference if the heat shild was on or not. the heat shield only caovers the top of everything, keeping heat away from you, therefor if you parked in a field with or with out it, it doesnt make a difference, you could start a fire either way.i have a 5th gen , but my brother has a 6th gen, if i remember correctly, they are only on top too. BUT i do agree, it only ways 5 lbs, doesnt really make a difference.
Also protects your hoses and wiring from heat. Want to loose your brakes from your brake lines melting?
