i think that the rx8 shouldnt have come out so soon they should have waited till they were ready for the a bigger motor something to shine in all. i guess the idea that the rx8 is made for the curvies but ya need to look at hte aspect of how is it going to get to those curvies . i have no driven an rx8 so i understand how it drives. i also now own a 2004 s2000 i believe that the rx8 is not the "sports" car or what ever you may call it. Even though the s2000 and the rx8 share a similar strengths their weakness' are very different. Even though the tq numbers are very similar the s2000 can transfer that "power" to the ground allowing it to accelerate much easier. The rx8's shifter seemed very distant from the car. it didnt even seem like it was connected to the motor.

anyways im tired of typing so in all the rx8 is a good car but can do better. the s2000 is a very good all around racer. just be ready to drive a sports car.

IMHO it says a lot for the RX-8 as a sport sedan that it can be compared to an s2000 sport coupe at all. Love to see how far a discussion comparing a Mazda 6i to an s2000 would go.

2006 Mazda RX-7: If the RX-8 is the success Mazda is banking on, a two-door RX-7 may follow for 2006. On the drawing board is a shortened, lighter car boasting 280-330 hp.

S2, no question. "Launch" is not necessary...it is afterall an F1 car.

Bingo!!! Anyone that buys an S2k for what it truely is will not spend any time at a drag strip, and would not bother trying to rate their car with another comparing 1/4 mile times! To the Rustang/'Maro next to me revving his engine like crazy, see if you can keep up when you have to turn?

Owning an S2k and having test driven an RX-8 for a nice long while one afternoon I say it comes down to preference, both are high reving, nice handling cars, one is a true sports car while one is a sports sedan. Personally, I felt like the RX was a little "soft" and the interior didn't feel as nicely crafted as the Honda for a similar price......But maybe I'm biased

imho, i think anyone that buys an s2k or an rx8 for the drag strip is stupid.. it's like hiring michael jordan to play for your rugby team.. he's a great player, but you're not using him for the sport he excels in..

i've driven both the s2k and rx8 at autocross.. the rx8 wasn't really tuned suspension and alignment wise so with that exception, the car still handles beautifully.. it handles similar to the s2k, but seems more stable whereas the s2k is more twitchy at the limits of cornering..

I'm not so sure about all that. The RX-8 is a very good car, despite the hp disadvantage it has to the S2k. It handles very good and its build quality is very good. Dont be biased, too many people are bias. They have the turbo in the works for the RX-8. As far as which car I would rather have between the two....umm I dont know both are good.

BTW the rx-8 has a 2 hp "disadvantage" to the S2000

Wasn't there a Best Motoring video where they had a race between an S2000 and an RX-8 and some other cars?...If anyone has seen it or know a place online, that would answer a lot of questions...
